Lets get real about insurance…

At Martin Insurance Brokers we pride ourselves on giving our clients the best possible service, especially when a claim occurs. In many cases our expertise has resulted in insurance companies paying claims that were initially refused.

One recent example was for a client who had their motor insurance claim refused due to mechanical failure.

The short version is as follows:
Part of the engine failed and this caused a fire which destroyed the rest of the engine.
The insurance company refused the claim as ‘mechanical failure’ was excluded on the policy.
Following negotiations with insurers, we agreed that the specific part of the engine that failed as a result of mechanical failure was not covered but we felt that the damage to the main engine was caused by fire (which was covered), so the bulk of the claim should be paid.

Thankfully, our arguments were accepted and the claim was paid.

If you find yourself in this position then we suggest you argue this point and don’t forget that the ombudsman is on hand to assist where you feel you have not been fairly treated.
